This place is worth the journey across town for me! I found this place to be pretty unique and different from a lot of the chinese places you'll find in Chinatown for example! The food is specific to a region and I loved almost everything we tried!!
We got the meat ball that everyone was raving about on Yelp and it was deliciously moist and tasty! Was so impressed with how well it was cooked!! How do they do it?!!
We also got the spare ribs that everyone at our table LOVED. Soft and the sauce is so good! It's a lil sweet!
The duck is similarly really soft and has a similar sauce!
We got the rice cakes with Napa cabbage and minced pork, super good IMO, have never had something like that before! Not dry at all, and full of plenty of flavor! Eggplant dish with minced pork was fantastic - all the eggplant was really soft :)
The only thing that was a little meh was the beef noodle soup. Nothing special and had a bit of a pickled sour taste! -

Hands down one of my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant in the city, maybe even the whole Bay Area...
I RARELY make Yelp reviews but this place deserves all the praise! -

I first came in 2018 and was blown away by the food. I waited about 1 year to post this review because although the food was great in 2018, the service was downright horrible (very slow, somewhat rude, etc.). Since then, there was an overhaul of staff and now the amazing and authentic food are met by waiters and waitresses who are kind and efficient.
True, I would have given this place 5 stars despite the terrible service solely on the quality of food alone. But I'd rather wait to post a raving review rather than just a mediocre one.
Sweet and Sour Ribs (see picture).
I get this every time I come. Delicious, tender, sweet, lots of dark soy sauce, and simmered until the sauce is thickened.
Chinese Meatball (literally translated as Lion's head).
A large meatball in a savory sauce. It goes well with...
Fried Rice.
They have a variety of fried rices (chicken, vegetable, etc) and so far, every dish that I tried tastes great and reminds me of a home-cooked meal (and thankfully nothing like Chinese-American Pork Fried Rice dishes you find at takeout restaurants).
Chinese Okra / Luffa / Sponge Gourd / Si-gua / 丝瓜 - with eggs.
Yes, it has many names, haha. This is one of my all-time favorite dishes. Chinese Okra is similar to American Okra but it is a bit less slimy, more tender, with a lighter taste. Highly recommend.
Overall, 5 stars. Although the restaurant seating is somewhat limited (around a dozen small tables), the service has gotten much better. There are many amazing dishes here including amazing soups for a colder day and a large pork hock that you have to order in advance. Good place for brunch for 4 people or fewer, but not so great if you are looking to seat 8. -

Delicious, authentic Jiangnan cuisine.
Caveat: This regional cuisine is characterized by a lot of sweet, dark soy-sauce usage, so if that's not your thing consider yourself warned.
Pro-tip: highly recommend ordering some contrasting dishes like we did to prevent flavor fatigue.
We got:
Lion's head meatballs- generously sized with nice texture (no filler use unlike other places) and good ratio of lean to fat.
Rice cakes with mustard greens- solid, though I personally would have preferred less sauce
Red braised pork- excellent. Fatty without being overly rich and very tender. My favorite dish out of the bunch.
Duck- good, but I preferred the pork to this actually. Five spice flavor was a bit strong and overpowering.
Cauliflower- nice smokiness from the high heat of wok-cooking and the pork belly inside. Highly recommend.
Sweet and sour ribs- the acid from the vinegar really livens this dish up. Tender and juicy.
Service isn't great due to limited staffing, though is still friendly. You may have to be proactive in terms of asking for water etc, but the food speaks for itself. -

So damn good! Might be the best Braised pork belly I've ever had. It comes with quail eggs. I paired it with the spicy cauliflower and pork, and was immensely satisfied.
